Constructing a “Five-Dimensional” Talent Cultivation Model for Choreographic Education in Chinese Higher Education Institutions

Abstract

This study addresses the current challenges and reform needs in the cultivation of choreographic talent within Chinese higher education institutions. It proposes a structured Five-Dimensional Competency Model, encompassing: (1) artistic aesthetics and cultural literacy, (2) choreographic thinking and methodological competence, (3) physical expression and movement development, (4) technological integration and media literacy, and (5) practical skills and project execution.

Through an in-depth analysis of prevalent issues—such as limited curricular scope, insufficient integration of creative and technical skills, and a disconnection between theory and practice—the research constructs a coherent and comprehensive capability framework. Building upon this model, the study further proposes implementation strategies including a modular curriculum system, diversified pedagogical methods, and the development of practice-oriented platforms.

This research contributes to bridging the theoretical gap in dance education by offering a systematic framework for choreographic competence. It also provides a practical reference for reforming talent development mechanisms in creative disciplines at the tertiary level.
