Data Policy
Global Review of Humanities, Arts and Society (GRHAS) supports transparency, research integrity, and responsible data management in scholarly publishing. Authors are encouraged to make the data, materials, and methodological information underlying their research available whenever possible in order to facilitate verification, replication, and further scholarly inquiry.
The journal recognizes that research in the humanities, arts, and social sciences may involve diverse forms of data, including qualitative materials, archival sources, textual corpora, visual materials, interviews, field notes, digital artifacts, and other forms of research documentation. Authors should ensure that their research data are handled and reported in a responsible and ethically appropriate manner.
Data Availability
Authors are encouraged to provide clear information about the availability of the data and materials used in their research. When possible, datasets and research materials should be deposited in a recognized institutional repository, subject repository, or trusted data archive prior to or at the time of publication.
If the data are publicly available, authors should include a data availability statement in the manuscript indicating:
- where the data can be accessed
- the name of the repository or archive
- any persistent identifiers (such as DOIs or accession numbers)
Providing access to underlying data enhances transparency and allows other researchers to build upon the published work.
Data Availability Statements
Authors should include a Data Availability Statement within the manuscript or in a designated section of the article. Examples may include:
- data available in a public repository
- data available from the author upon reasonable request
- data included within the article or supplementary materials
- data not publicly available due to ethical or legal restrictions
Where data cannot be shared, authors should provide a clear explanation of the restrictions.
Ethical and Legal Considerations
When research involves human participants, personal data, confidential materials, or culturally sensitive information, authors must ensure that data sharing complies with ethical standards and applicable legal or institutional regulations.
Authors must protect the privacy and confidentiality of research participants and ensure that any shared datasets have been appropriately anonymized when required.
Data Citation & Supplementary Materials
Data Citation: Authors should cite datasets and research materials in the reference list whenever applicable. Proper citation of data sources ensures transparency, enables verification of research findings, and gives appropriate credit to data creators.
Supplementary Materials: Authors may submit supplementary materials that support the findings of the research, such as appendices, datasets, multimedia files, or extended methodological documentation. Supplementary materials will be made available alongside the published article when appropriate.
Commitment to Research Transparency
GRHAS encourages responsible data sharing practices that support transparency, reproducibility, and scholarly collaboration. At the same time, the journal recognizes that some research data may be subject to ethical, legal, or cultural limitations and respects the need to manage such materials appropriately.
