AI & Research Integrity Policy
Global Review of Humanities, Arts and Society (GRHAS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, academic transparency, and responsible scholarly practice in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automated technologies in research and academic writing. The journal recognizes that AI-assisted tools may support research and writing processes, but their use must not compromise the originality, reliability, or accountability of scholarly work.
Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow responsible practices when using AI technologies in the preparation, evaluation, or publication of scholarly content.
Acceptable Use of AI Tools
Authors may use AI-assisted tools to support certain aspects of the research and writing process, including:
- language editing and grammar improvement
- formatting assistance
- limited analytical support for large datasets
- technical support for coding, transcription, or data organization
However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the content submitted to the journal. AI tools must not replace the intellectual contributions of the authors.
Prohibited Uses of AI
The following uses of AI tools are not permitted in manuscripts submitted to GRHAS:
- generating substantial portions of the manuscript text without proper disclosure
- fabricating or manipulating research data, references, or citations
- producing false analyses, results, or interpretations
- creating misleading or synthetic research evidence
- submitting AI-generated work as original human-authored scholarship
Any misuse of AI that compromises the integrity of the research will be treated as a form of academic misconduct.
Disclosure of AI Use
If AI tools have been used during the preparation of a manuscript, authors must provide a clear disclosure statement describing:
- the name of the AI tool or system used
- the purpose for which the tool was used (e.g., language editing, data processing)
- confirmation that the authors reviewed and verified the accuracy of the output
Disclosure statements should be included in the acknowledgements section or in a dedicated note within the manuscript.
Authorship and Accountability
Artificial intelligence systems or automated tools cannot be listed as authors of a manuscript. Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and writing of the work.
Human authors remain fully accountable for the integrity, originality, and accuracy of all content submitted to the journal, regardless of whether AI tools were used during the preparation of the manuscript.
Responsibilities of Reviewers and Editors
Reviewers and editors must maintain confidentiality when handling manuscripts and must not upload unpublished manuscripts or review materials to AI systems or external platforms that may compromise confidentiality or intellectual property.
Editors may investigate potential misuse of AI technologies if concerns arise regarding the originality or integrity of a manuscript.
Handling of Misuse
If the journal identifies inappropriate or undisclosed use of AI technologies that affects the integrity of a manuscript, the editorial office may take appropriate action, including:
- requesting clarification or correction from the authors
- rejecting the manuscript
- issuing corrections or retractions for published articles
- notifying relevant institutions if serious misconduct is confirmed
Commitment to Responsible AI Use
GRHAS recognizes the evolving role of artificial intelligence in scholarly research and communication. The journal supports the responsible and transparent use of AI tools while safeguarding the principles of academic integrity, intellectual accountability, and trustworthy scholarship.
