Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Three Teachings Studies (TTS) adheres to a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism, data fabrication, and other forms of academic misconduct. We are committed to protecting the integrity of the scholarly record in the fields of East Asian religion and philosophy.

Author Responsibility (Preliminary Check): Before submission, authors are required to conduct a preliminary similarity check. The total similarity index must be lower than 15% (excluding references and bibliography). Manuscripts exceeding this threshold should be revised prior to submission.
Editorial Oversight (Randomized Screening): The TTS Editorial Office conducts random spot checks and targeted verification. While not every submission is scanned, any manuscript flagged during the review process with a similarity index above 15% will be subject to immediate rejection or revision requests.

Actions on Misconduct

If plagiarism (including self-plagiarism or "text-recycling") is detected at any stage:

  • Pre-publication: The manuscript will be rejected if the similarity index remains high without valid justification (e.g., extensive quotation of primary sources).
  • Post-publication: The article will be retracted in accordance with international ethical guidelines, and a retraction notice will be published.

TTS follows the core practices and guidelines defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) .
