Aims and Scope
Three Teachings Studies: Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism (TTS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the scholarly exploration of the Three Teachings (三教)—Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism—in their diverse historical, intellectual, ritual, artistic, and cultural dimensions. The journal emphasizes interdisciplinary, comparative, and cross-traditional approaches that highlight interactions among the Three Teachings across East Asia and beyond.
TTS particularly welcomes research that:
- ▪ Investigates classical texts, commentaries, and exegetical traditions
- ▪ Analyzes ritual practices, transmission lineages, and religious music
- ▪ Reconstructs intellectual lineages and regional traditions
- ▪ Compares doctrinal, ethical, or cosmological frameworks across traditions
- ▪ Studies localized, embodied, or vernacular expressions of the Three Teachings
- ▪ Explores visual culture, material practices, and religious space
- ▪ Examines the contemporary relevance and reinterpretation of traditional teachings
Geographical Scope
TTS encourages submissions that cover China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and the broader Sinosphere, including diasporic and cross-cultural contexts.
Languages
We accept submissions in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
(All non-English articles must include an English title and abstract.)
