Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kinds of submissions does TTS accept?

We accept research articles, review essays, book reviews, translations with annotations, forum contributions, textual notes, and lectures. Topics must relate to Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, or their interaction, comparison, and cultural expressions.

 

2. What languages are accepted?

We accept manuscripts in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
(All non-English submissions must include an English title and abstract.)

 

3. Is there a word limit?

  • Articles: 6,000–10,000 words
  • Review Articles: up to 8,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 1,000–2,000 words
  • Forum, Translation, Notes: flexible length
 

4. Is there a publication fee (APC)?

Yes. TTS charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $350 USD for accepted research articles.

  • — No charges for submission, peer review, or short-form content.
  • Waivers or discounts are available for authors without funding.

5. Peer review duration?

Most submissions are reviewed within 8–12 weeks. Editors will notify authors if additional time is needed.

6. Previously published work?

No. All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

 

7. Do I need to use Romanization?

No. We do not require Romanization unless helpful for clarity. Authors are encouraged to retain original script when quoting Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Vietnamese texts.
