    Abstract: Impressionist music emerged at the turn of the twentieth century as a significant reorientation of traditional functional harmony. Rather than prioritizing tonal stability and structural teleology, Impressionist composers foregrounded harmonic color, timbre, and atmospheric resonance as primary expressive elements.
