Book & Media Reviews
This section publishes critical reviews of recent books, recordings, films, digital platforms, and other media relevant to global music studies. We welcome reviews that move beyond summary, offering analytical insight, contextual framing, and critical engagement.
What We Review
Scholarly Books Monographs or edited volumes on musicology, ethnomusicology, & sound studies.
Sound Media Albums, sound installations, or multimedia projects.
Films Documentaries or fiction films centered on musical practices.
Digital Online archives, digital tools, or music-based platforms.
Global Scope: Reviews of works in languages beyond English are especially welcome.
Length & Format
Single Review 1,000–1,500 words
Review Essay Up to 3,000 words (multiple works)
Tone: Critical yet fair; informed by scholarship.
Citation: Chicago (17th ed.).
