流行音乐在中日韩留学生语言学习与跨文化适应(cross-cultural adaptation)中的作用研究
Abstract

With the acceleration of globalization, the number of Chinese students studying in Japan and Korea has been steadily increasing. However, these students continue to face challenges in language learning and cross-cultural adaptation, such as linguistic barriers, cultural differences, and psychological pressure.
Drawing on a mixed-method design, this study analyzes 57 questionnaire responses and two in-depth interviews with Chinese international students in Japan and Korea to explore the educational and psychological roles of popular music in language learning and adaptation. The findings indicate that popular music facilitates vocabulary memorization and pronunciation improvement through lyrical repetition and emotional engagement. It also alleviates loneliness and anxiety, enhancing learners’ sense of cultural understanding and social connection. Yet, discrepancies between lyrical and everyday language limit its direct communicative effectiveness.
Overall, the study highlights the potential of popular music as a pedagogical and emotional tool for supporting international students’ linguistic development and cross-cultural adaptation. Future research may further examine its long-term impact across different cultural and educational contexts.
