Launch of New Section: Everyday Resonances
The editorial board of Resonance: Journal of Global Music Studies is pleased to announce the launch of a new section, Everyday Resonances.
This section was created following the thoughtful recommendation of our editorial board member, Ms. Ao, who emphasized the importance of providing space for shorter and more accessible academic writing in the field of music studies. In addition to substantial research articles, Resonance now welcomes contributions that use a flexible format to explore the connections between music and everyday life.
In today’s rapidly changing cultural and technological environment, seemingly small-scale musical observations can often reveal profound theoretical insights. Everyday Resonances therefore invites contributions of 2,500–4,000 words, written in a light academia style: rigorous yet approachable, combining scholarly depth with readability and openness.
Through this new section, we aim to make theoretical and critical discussions in global music studies more dynamic and inclusive—not only for established scholars but also for emerging voices and interdisciplinary readers.
We warmly thank Ms. Ao for inspiring this initiative, and we look forward to receiving contributions that will shape the conversations in Everyday Resonances.
