Abstract

Orthopedic injuries are common clinical conditions encompassing fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, and bone diseases, which severely impact patients' limb function and quality of life. Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (TCWM) in the treatment of bone injuries, with its unique advantages of "combining syndrome differentiation with disease diagnosis, addressing both local and systemic aspects, and emphasizing both symptomatic and root cause treatment," has achieved significant clinical efficacy. This paper systematically reviews the theoretical basis and diagnostic characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) orthopedics, summarizes the technological progress and clinical applications of Western orthopedics, and focuses on discussing the clinical pathways, mechanisms of action, and complementary advantages of TCWM in treating various bone injuries. It integrates international research evidence, clarifies core TCM terminologies, streamlines mechanistic discussions, and supplements visual summaries. Additionally, it analyzes the current challenges faced by TCWM and prospects its future development trends, aiming to provide references for clinical practice and promote the standardized, scientific, and international development of integrated TCWM orthopedics.
