Corrections Policy

Health Nexus is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published record. When errors are identified in published articles, the journal will issue timely and transparent corrections in accordance with international best practices.


1. Purpose of Corrections

Corrections are issued to:

  • Rectify errors that occurred during the publication process or post-publication
  • Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and reliability of the scientific record
  • Maintain transparency for readers and researchers

Corrections do not invalidate the overall findings of the article.

2. Types of Corrections

2.1 Erratum (Publisher Error)

Issued when errors are introduced by the journal or publisher, such as:

  • Formatting or typesetting mistakes
  • Incorrect author details
  • Errors in figures or tables caused during production

2.2 Corrigendum (Author Error)

Issued when authors identify errors in their published work, including:

  • Minor data inaccuracies
  • Mislabeling in figures or tables
  • Errors in text that do not affect the study’s conclusions

2.3 Addendum (Additional Information)

Published when:

  • Important information was omitted from the original article
  • Additional clarification is needed to enhance understanding

3. Criteria for Correction

A correction will be issued when:

  • The error affects the accuracy or clarity of the article
  • The scientific conclusions remain valid and reliable
  • The issue does not meet the threshold for retraction

Serious errors that invalidate findings will be handled under the Retraction Policy.

4. Correction Process

The journal follows a structured process:

  • Notification: Errors may be reported by authors, readers, reviewers, or editors
  • Assessment: The Editorial Office evaluates the nature and impact of the error
  • Author Consultation: Authors are contacted for clarification and confirmation
  • Editorial Decision: The Editor-in-Chief determines the appropriate action
  • Publication: A formal correction notice is issued

5. Correction Notice

All correction notices will:

  • Be clearly labeled (Erratum, Corrigendum, or Addendum)
  • Be linked to the original article
  • Describe the nature of the correction
  • Specify whether the error originated from the author or publisher

6. Article Updates

  • The original article will remain accessible
  • Corrections will be clearly indicated in both:
    • HTML version
    • PDF version (e.g., annotation or watermark if necessary)
  • The corrected version will be identified as the Version of Record (updated)

7. Transparency and Record Integrity

  • All corrections are permanently linked to the original publication
  • No changes are made without clear documentation
  • The journal maintains a transparent publication history

8. Indexing and Metadata Updates

The journal will:

  • Update correction information in indexing databases
  • Ensure metadata reflects the corrected status
  • Maintain DOI linkage between original and corrected records

9. Author Responsibility

Authors are expected to:

  • Promptly notify the journal of any errors discovered post-publication
  • Cooperate in the correction process
  • Provide accurate and complete revised information

10. Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Office and Editor-in-Chief are responsible for:

  • Evaluating reported errors
  • Determining appropriate corrective action
  • Ensuring transparency and consistency

11. Compliance with Standards

This policy aligns with:

  • COPE guidelines on corrections and retractions
  • ICMJE recommendations
  • International standards for maintaining the scholarly record
