Plagiarism Policy
Health Nexus is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. All submitted manuscripts must be the authors’ original work and properly cite all sources.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, data, or images without proper attribution
- Presenting others’ work as one’s own
- Self-plagiarism (reuse of previously published content without disclosure)
- Improper paraphrasing or close imitation of source material
2. Similarity Threshold
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate or equivalent).
- The overall similarity index must be below 15%
- No single source should contribute a disproportionately high similarity
⚠ Important Notes:
- The similarity score is used as a screening tool, not a definitive measure of misconduct.
- Legitimate overlaps (e.g., references, methodology descriptions) may be excluded from evaluation.
3. Screening Process
- All submissions are checked for similarity before peer review
- Additional checks may be conducted during revision or after acceptance
- Editors evaluate reports to distinguish acceptable overlap from potential misconduct
4. Handling of Detected Similarity
4.1 Minor Overlap
- Authors may be asked to revise and improve citation or paraphrasing
4.2 Moderate Overlap
- Manuscripts may be returned for substantial revision
- Detailed explanation may be requested
4.3 Major Overlap / Plagiarism
- Immediate rejection
- Possible notification to authors’ institutions
- Future submissions may be restricted
5. Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication
Authors must:
- Disclose any prior publication or overlapping content
- Avoid duplicate or redundant publication
Reuse of previously published material must be:
- Clearly cited
- Scientifically justified
6. Post-Publication Detection
If plagiarism is identified after publication:
- The journal will investigate in accordance with COPE guidelines
- Actions may include:
- Publication of corrections
- Retraction of the article
- Notification of relevant institutions
7. Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that:
- All submitted content is original
- Proper citations and references are included
- Quoted material is clearly identified
8. Editorial Responsibility
The Editorial Office is responsible for:
- Conducting similarity checks
- Interpreting similarity reports
- Taking appropriate action in suspected cases
9. Compliance with Standards
This policy aligns with:
- COPE guidelines on plagiarism
- ICMJE recommendations
- International standards for ethical publishing
