Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Climate Sustainability & Global Systems (CSGS) adheres to the best practice guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Responsibilities of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and not published elsewhere. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification is unacceptable.
Multiple or Redundant Publication: Simultaneous submission to more than one journal is prohibited.
Data Integrity and Transparency: Authors must present accurate data, retain it for verification if requested, and disclose methodologies transparently.
Authorship: Limited to individuals with significant intellectual contributions. All co-authors must approve the final version prior to submission.
Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
- Making impartial and independent publication decisions.
- Evaluating manuscripts solely on academic merit.
- Ensuring confidentiality throughout the review process.
- Managing conflicts of interest appropriately and recusing from biased submissions.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Providing objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
- Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
- Identifying relevant published work not cited by authors and alerting editors to misconduct.
Peer review in CSGS is conducted under a double-blind review system.
4. Research Ethics and Human/Animal Subjects
Research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical regulations, provide Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval details, and include informed consent statements where required.
5. Misconduct Handling Procedures
Suspected misconduct will be investigated in accordance with COPE flowcharts. Possible actions include:
- Clarification requests
- Correction publications
- Article retractions
- Institutional notification
6. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
The journal maintains transparent mechanisms for issuing Errata, publishing retractions with clear explanations, and issuing expressions of concern. Retractions will remain permanently linked to the original article.
7. Appeals and Complaints
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions in writing. Appeals must provide detailed justification based on academic grounds and will be handled impartially.
8. AI Use and Research Integrity
Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in text generation, data analysis, or image production. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their work.
9. Publisher Responsibilities
Panorama Scholarly Group (PSG) supports editorial independence and ensures transparent policies, open access dissemination, ethical oversight, and permanent digital preservation.
