Submission Process

Submission Process

Comparative Philosophy and Religious Traditions (CPRT) operates a structured and transparent submission system to ensure fairness, efficiency, and academic integrity.

Authors are encouraged to review the Author Guidelines carefully before submitting their manuscript.

1. Online Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official online submission system.

Submissions sent via email will not be considered.

Authors must create an account in the submission system and provide accurate contact information.

2. Required Documents

Each submission must include the following files:

(1) Anonymous Manuscript

The main manuscript file must:

  • Contain no identifying information
  • Include title, abstract, keywords, main text, footnotes, and bibliography
  • Follow Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition), Notes and Bibliography
  • Be formatted according to the journal’s requirements

Authors must ensure that metadata within the file (e.g., document properties) do not reveal author identity.

(2) Title Page (Separate File)

The title page must include:

  • Full article title
  • Author name(s)
  • Institutional affiliation(s)
  • ORCID (if available)
  • Corresponding author contact information
  • Acknowledgments (if any)
  • Funding information (if applicable)

3. Submission Confirmation

Upon successful submission, authors will receive an automated confirmation email.

The manuscript will then proceed to initial editorial screening.

4. Initial Editorial Screening

The Editorial Office and Editor-in-Chief conduct an initial assessment to determine:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Compliance with formatting requirements
  • Basic scholarly quality
  • Ethical compliance
  • Plagiarism screening

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards may be desk rejected.

Estimated time: 7–10 days.

5. Peer Review Assignment

Manuscripts that pass screening are assigned to an Associate Editor or handling editor and sent to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind review model.

Reviewers are selected based on:

  • Subject expertise
  • Research background
  • Absence of conflicts of interest

Authors may suggest potential reviewers, but the final selection is at the discretion of the editorial team.

6. Editorial Decision

After receiving reviewer reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Authors receive anonymized reviewer comments along with the editorial decision.

7. Revision Submission

If revision is requested:

  • Minor Revision: typically 2–3 weeks
  • Major Revision: typically 4–6 weeks

Authors must submit:

  • Revised manuscript (anonymous)
  • A detailed response letter addressing reviewer comments

Failure to resubmit within the designated timeframe may result in withdrawal.

8. Final Acceptance

Once accepted, the manuscript enters production, including:

  • Copyediting
  • Typesetting
  • Proof review

Authors are responsible for reviewing and approving proofs promptly.

9. Online First Publication

Accepted articles are published online promptly under the Online First model.

Articles are subsequently assigned to the June or December issue.

10. Ethical Declarations at Submission

During submission, authors must confirm:

  • The manuscript is original
  • It is not under review elsewhere
  • All authors approve submission
  • Conflicts of interest are disclosed
  • AI use (if any) is declared

11. Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation to the Editorial Office.

Appeals are reviewed independently and may involve additional consultation.
