Publication Ethics
Comparative Philosophy and Religious Traditions (CPRT) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adheres to internationally recognized guidelines for scholarly publishing and follows the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness in all aspects of its editorial and review processes.
CPRT supports the core practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and upholds ethical standards for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. Editorial Responsibility and Independence
The editorial team is responsible for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of all published content. Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board operate independently of the publisher in matters of editorial decision-making. No commercial, institutional, or political considerations influence publication decisions.
2. Peer Review Integrity
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.
Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and are required to evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and without conflicts of interest.
Editors ensure that:
- At least two independent reviewers evaluate each research article.
- Review processes are conducted fairly and transparently.
- Confidentiality is strictly maintained.
3. Authorship and Contributorship
Authors must meet recognized criteria for authorship, including substantial contribution to:
- Conceptualization or design
- Data analysis or interpretation
- Drafting or revising the manuscript
All authors must approve the final version prior to submission.
The journal requires a clear statement of author contributions where applicable. Ghost authorship, gift authorship, and honorary authorship are strictly prohibited.
4. Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not be under consideration elsewhere.
CPRT uses plagiarism detection tools to screen submissions.
Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, duplication, or unattributed borrowing, will result in rejection or retraction as appropriate.
5. Research Integrity
Authors must ensure that:
- Data are accurately represented
- Sources are properly cited
- Arguments are not fabricated or falsified
- Ethical approval is obtained where required
For research involving human subjects, informed consent and institutional ethical approval must be documented where applicable.
6. Conflict of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or editorial decision-making process.
Conflicts may include:
- Financial relationships
- Institutional affiliations
- Personal or professional relationships
Undisclosed conflicts discovered after publication may result in corrective actions.
7. Use of Artificial Intelligence
If artificial intelligence tools (including large language models) are used in manuscript preparation, authors must disclose their use transparently.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and integrity of their work.
8. Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate corrective measures, including:
- Publication of corrections
- Expressions of concern
- Retractions
Retractions are issued in cases of serious misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or unethical research practices.
9. Complaints and Appeals
Authors who wish to appeal editorial decisions may submit a written appeal to the editorial office. Appeals are reviewed independently.
Complaints regarding ethical concerns or editorial conduct will be investigated fairly and confidentially.
10. Publisher Responsibilities
The publisher supports editorial independence and ensures that business considerations do not compromise academic standards.
The publisher maintains transparency regarding ownership, management, and funding structures.
11. Commitment to Ethical Scholarship
CPRT is committed to fostering respectful intercultural dialogue and scholarly rigor. The journal encourages research that reflects sensitivity to cultural, philosophical, and religious traditions, and promotes constructive engagement across diverse intellectual communities.
