Dear authors and researchers,
AI & Future Society (ISSN: 3053-4011) is now accepting submissions for Volume 2, Issue 1 (May 2026).
Submission deadline: April 15, 2026
This is a regular issue of the journal.
There are no Article Processing Charges (APC) for this issue.
The editorial theme of Volume 2, Issue 1 (May 2026) is:
AI, Algorithmic Thresholds, and Social Fairness:
AI Systems, Social Theory, Ethics, Economics, and Public Policy Governance in the Context of the U.S. Middle-Class “Cut-Off Line” Debate
In recent years, AI-driven decision systems have increasingly relied on algorithmic thresholds, scoring mechanisms, and cut-off points in areas such as social welfare, healthcare, credit evaluation, education access, taxation, and housing policy.
Public debates—particularly in the United States—have highlighted how these threshold-based systems may contribute to the structural exclusion of middle-income and near-threshold populations, often described in public discourse as a “middle-class cut-off line.”
This issue encourages submissions that critically examine:
-
AI-driven threshold and scoring systems as socio-technical arrangements
-
The interaction between algorithmic decision-making and social stratification
-
Ethical issues related to fairness, responsibility, and accountability
-
Economic rationales embedded in algorithmic governance
-
Public policy and regulatory responses to AI-mediated exclusion
Contributions may draw on social theory, ethics, economics, public policy, law, or interdisciplinary approaches.
