Submission Process

Journal of Social Cognition and Communication follows a structured submission and editorial workflow designed to ensure fairness, efficiency, and academic rigor. Authors are encouraged to review the journal’s aims, scope, formatting requirements, and ethical policies before submission.

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system and will proceed through editorial screening, double-anonymous peer review, revision, and final editorial decision before publication.
1. Manuscript Preparation
Authors prepare the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s Author Guidelines, APA reference style, and double-anonymous review requirements. The main manuscript file should not contain author-identifying information.
2. Online Submission
The manuscript is submitted through the journal’s online submission system together with all required materials, including the anonymous manuscript, title page, abstract, keywords, and any additional files where applicable.
3. Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial office or handling editor checks whether the submission fits the journal’s scope and meets the basic requirements for academic quality, originality, formatting, language, and ethical compliance.
4. Editorial Assessment
At this stage, the submission may proceed in one of the following ways:
  • Sent for external peer review
  • Returned to the author for technical correction or anonymization
  • Declined without external review if outside scope or below minimum requirements
5. Double-Anonymous Peer Review
Manuscripts passing editorial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers. Under the double-anonymous review model, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.
6. First Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer reports and editorial judgment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
  • Accept
  • Minor revisions
  • Major revisions
  • Resubmission for further review
  • Reject
7. Author Revision
If revisions are requested, authors revise the manuscript and submit a response document explaining how reviewer and editor comments have been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be reassessed by the editor or returned to reviewers for further evaluation.
8. Final Editorial Decision
After revision and any further review, the editor-in-chief or authorized editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.
9. Copyediting and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, formatting, proofreading, metadata preparation, and final author confirmation before publication.
10. Publication
Finalized articles are scheduled for publication in one of the journal’s biannual issues and published online as part of the official scholarly record.
Typical processing stages include submission, editorial screening, peer review, revision, final decision, and production. Specific timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revision required.
