
Author Guidelines
Journal of Social Cognition and Communication welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance research at the intersection of social cognition, communication, media, and contemporary society. The journal publishes theoretical, empirical, and methodological studies that demonstrate strong academic rigor, conceptual clarity, and relevance to international scholarly discourse.
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions should not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.
1. Types of Contributions
- Research Articles – Original theoretical or empirical studies.
- Review Articles – Critical syntheses of existing research.
- Theoretical Papers – Conceptual or theoretical developments.
- Methodological Studies – Research methods, data approaches, or analytical frameworks.
- Short Communications – Brief reports or emerging research findings.
2. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English and should normally include the following elements:
- Title
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- Keywords (3–6 keywords)
- Main text
- References
- Tables and figures where applicable
Research articles are typically between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including references. Shorter or longer manuscripts may be considered depending on the nature of the contribution.
3. Anonymous Manuscripts
To support the double-anonymous peer review process, authors must remove identifying information from the manuscript file submitted for review. Author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and other identifying details should not appear in the anonymous manuscript.
A separate title page should include the manuscript title, author names, institutional affiliations, corresponding author information, and any acknowledgements or funding information.
4. References and Citations
Authors should ensure that all references are accurate and complete. Citation and referencing styles should be applied consistently throughout the manuscript. The journal generally follows internationally recognized academic referencing practices.
Authors are responsible for verifying all sources cited in the manuscript.
5. Ethical Requirements
Submitted manuscripts must represent original work and must not contain plagiarism, fabricated data, or unethical research practices. Authors should comply with the journal’s publication ethics policies and disclose any conflicts of interest where applicable.
Where research involves human participants or sensitive data, authors should ensure that appropriate ethical approvals and consent procedures have been followed.
6. Open Access and Licensing
The journal publishes all articles under an open access model. Articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted sharing and reuse provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.
7. Submission Process
Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. The submission process typically involves the following steps:
- Manuscript submission
- Editorial screening
- Double-anonymous peer review
- Revision process (if required)
- Final editorial decision
8. Publication Frequency
The journal publishes two issues per year. Accepted articles are published after completion of the editorial and production process.
