
Template & Formatting
Authors submitting to Computational Social Sciences Review (CSSR) should prepare their manuscripts according to the formatting requirements outlined below. Proper formatting ensures clarity, consistency, and efficient processing during peer review and production. A downloadable template is also provided for convenience.
1. File Format
- Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx).
- PDF files may be uploaded as supplementary files, but not as the main manuscript.
2. Page Layout
- Paper size: A4
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
- Line spacing: Double-spaced (2.0)
- Alignment: Justified
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
3. Manuscript Structure
Recommended structure:
- Title Page (with full author information)
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- Keywords (3–6 terms)
- Introduction
- Background / Literature Review
- Methods (models, algorithms, datasets)
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Data Availability Statement
- Author Contributions
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References
4. Title Page Requirements
The title page must include:
- Full title of the manuscript
- Full names of all authors
- Institutional affiliations (Department, University, Country)
- ORCID iDs (recommended)
- Corresponding author’s email
- Funding information (if applicable)
- Conflict of interest statement
5. Figures and Tables
- Figures must be high-resolution (300 dpi or above).
- All tables and figures must be cited in the text.
- Figure/Table titles should be placed above the item; notes below.
- Preferred formats: PNG, JPG, TIFF, or embedded Word objects.
6. Mathematical Expressions & Code
- Equations should be created using the built-in equation editor.
- Code snippets should use a monospaced font (e.g., Courier New).
- Large code blocks should be included as supplementary files.
7. Reference Style
CSSR accepts two standard styles:
- APA 7th Edition
- Chicago Author–Date Style
References must be complete, consistent, and include DOIs where available.
8. Data and Supplementary Materials
- Datasets, code, and replication files are strongly encouraged.
- Authors may deposit materials in OSF, Zenodo, Figshare, or institutional repositories.
- Links to repositories should be provided in the Data Availability Statement.
9. Language and Clarity
Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. Authors may be asked to revise for language quality during review or before publication.
