
Submission Guidelines
Authors submitting to Computational Social Sciences Review (CSSR) are asked to follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth and efficient review process. Manuscripts must be original, methodologically sound, and relevant to computational and data-driven approaches in social science research.
1. Manuscript Types
- Research Articles (6,000–10,000 words)
- Data Articles / Data Notes (1,500–4,000 words)
- Methodological Papers (4,000–8,000 words)
- Review Articles (8,000–12,000 words)
- Case Studies / Applied Studies (3,000–6,000 words)
- Short Communications (1,500–3,000 words)
- Technical Reports (2,000–6,000 words)
2. Originality and Ethical Compliance
Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere. Authors must:
- Ensure the manuscript has not been previously published.
- Avoid plagiarism, duplication, and data manipulation.
- Provide ethical approval statements when human or sensitive data are used.
- Disclose all conflicts of interest.
3. Manuscript Structure
A typical manuscript should include:
- Title
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- Keywords (3–6 terms)
- Introduction
- Literature Review / Background
- Methods (including models, algorithms, data sources)
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Data Availability Statement
- Author Contributions
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References (APA / Chicago accepted)
4. Formatting Guidelines
- Manuscripts should be submitted in Word (.docx).
- Use a clear font (Times New Roman or similar), 12 pt, double spacing.
- Figures and tables must be numbered and placed where cited.
- High-quality images (300 dpi+) should be included.
- Code snippets may be included using monospaced font.
5. Data, Code, and Reproducibility
CSSR strongly supports open science principles. Authors should:
- Provide datasets, analytical scripts, and replication files when possible.
- Deposit data in reputable repositories (e.g., OSF, Zenodo, Figshare).
- Clearly describe data collection, preprocessing, and analytical methods.
6. Referencing Style
CSSR accepts APA 7th edition or Chicago style. References must be complete, accurate, and consistent.
7. Submission Process
Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. The submission should include:
- Cover letter
- Main manuscript file (anonymous)
- Figures and tables (if separate)
- Supplementary data or code (optional)
- Conflict-of-interest declaration
8. Peer Review
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Reviewer recommendations inform editorial decisions, which may include: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
9. Publication Fees
CSSR currently does not charge submission fees. Publication fees (if applicable) will be announced transparently. Waivers may be available.
