
Publishing Process
The publishing process at Computational Social Sciences Review (CSSR) follows a transparent, rigorous, and author-centered workflow. Each manuscript undergoes a structured evaluation to ensure academic quality, ethical compliance, and timely publication. Below is an outline of the typical stages from submission to publication.
1. Online Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. Required components include:
- Main manuscript (anonymous)
- Title page with author information
- Figures, tables, and supplementary materials (if applicable)
- Cover letter
- Conflict-of-interest declaration
2. Initial Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor evaluates the submission based on:
- Fit with the journal’s Aim & Scope
- Originality and scholarly contribution
- Methodological soundness
- Compliance with formatting and ethical standards
Manuscripts failing to meet basic requirements may be rejected at this stage (desk rejection).
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Qualified manuscripts proceed to double-blind peer review. Typically:
- Two independent reviewers are assigned
- Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous
- Reviewers provide detailed evaluations and recommendations
4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer comments, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
5. Revision Stage
Authors revise their manuscripts according to reviewer feedback and submit:
- Revised manuscript
- Detailed response-to-reviewers document
Revised manuscripts may undergo additional review depending on editor judgment.
6. Final Acceptance
When the manuscript meets the journal’s academic and ethical standards, a formal acceptance decision is issued. Authors receive final instructions for production.
7. Copyediting and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts enter the production stage, including:
- Technical and language editing
- Formatting and layout
- Proofreading for accuracy and clarity
Authors review the proof and approve the final version.
8. Online Publication
The final Version of Record (VoR) is published online with:
- Assigned DOI
- Metadata indexing
- Archiving in long-term repositories
9. Post-Publication Updates
Corrections, retractions, or editorial notices may be issued when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
10. Publication Timeline
Average processing times:
- Initial check: 3–7 days
- Peer review: 2–4 weeks
- Revision stage: 1–3 weeks
- Final processing: 1–2 weeks
